The VPN feature has been added to Deskterm. Every workstation is now connected to a VPN location of the user’s choice. The VPN is provided by the third-party Hide.me.The 5 minute free session now has internet connectivity through the VPN.The full version of Deskterm is still scheduled to be launched on the 22nd of June 2026.

This is the first release of Deskterm. This release includes using Deskterm with a free demo. The demo is limited to 5 minutes per session and internet access is restricted.Deskterm is the successor of <a target="" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="link" href="https://instantworkstation.com">Instant Workstation</a>. Compared to Instant Workstation, Deskterm has the following advantages:<ul><li>Workstation Location selection<ul><li>Lower latency</li><li>18 locations to choose from across 6 continents</li></ul></li><li>Audio support</li><li>Copy/Paste between own computer and Deskterm workstation</li><li>Browsers &amp; Apps available if full-fledged desktop is not required</li><li><a target="" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="link" href="https://gitlab.com/brusecke/deskterm">Open Source</a></li></ul>The full version of Deskterm is scheduled to be launched on the 22nd of June 2026.
